寒い日が続きますねー。

こう寒い日が続くと、つい家にこもりがちになってしまいます。

そんな時の気分にピッタリな表現があります。

I'm going to go stir-crazy if I don't get out of here.

go (get; become) stir-crazyは、「１か所に長い期間ずっといて頭がおかしくなる」という意味のスラングです。

刑務所暮らしが長かった人が最初に使ったようです。

囚人でなくても似たような状況にある人、例えば入院している人とか、大雪で外出できない人にも使えます。

こんな例文がありました。

It's no wonder she's going stir-crazy, shut in that tiny house all day with three naughty boys.

（彼女が頭が変になりそうなのも無理ない。あの小さな家に一日中、３人のいたずら坊主と一緒に閉じこもっていたら。）
